Brand Name: Sir Gregory™
Founder: Gregory Barnett
Founded: 2019
Specialty: Tuxedo shirts, tuxedo trousers, and coordinated tuxedo sets
Mission: Inspiring the modern gentleman

Sir Gregory is a formalwear brand specializing in tuxedo shirts, tuxedo trousers, and coordinated tuxedo sets designed from real tailoring and fitting-room experience.

Sir Gregory was founded by Gregory Barnett, a menswear professional whose experience in formalwear began in 2007 inside a long-established specialty men’s clothing retailer in The Hamptons, New York.

Over more than fifteen years he worked across nearly every role within the business - custom clothing designer, tailor, manager, personal stylist, buyer, shipper, receiver, and operations support specialist.

Thousands of fittings, alterations, and formalwear consultations shaped a deep understanding of garment construction through sewing, proportion, balance, and how subtle engineering details affect both comfort and confidence.

Sir Gregory was built from this first-hand experience.

Experience Developed Inside One of America’s Recognized Menswear Retailers

The retailer where Sir Gregory’s founder developed his experience was recognized by Esquire Magazine in its national “Best in Class – Finest Men’s Specialty Stores in the Country” feature highlighting the gold standard of American menswear retailers.

Working in that environment provided an unusually deep, hands-on education in every aspect of men’s clothing and formalwear.

Over the years Gregory worked directly with customers preparing for weddings, proms, galas, black-tie affairs, white tie events, cotillions and other important professional occasions while also contributing to nearly every operational layer of the business, including:

• menswear buying and collection curation
• merchandising and sales
• tailoring and garment re-construction
• custom clothing consultation
• personal styling for weddings and formal events
• inventory, shipping, returns, and supply logistics
• garment finishing and quality control

This experience included thousands of real customer fittings and alterations, developing a practical understanding of body types, garment balance, fabric behavior, and how clothing must perform during real events.

Sir Gregory exists as a direct extension of that experience.

Clothing Designed To Answer The Questions Customers Actually Ask

Years spent on the sales floor and inside the tailoring room revealed that most men ask the same questions when preparing for formal events:

How should tuxedo pants fit?
What size jacket do I need?
Will the jacket match the pants?
Where do cufflinks and studs go?
Should my shirt have pleats?
Is the collar supposed to feel this tight?
Will this shirt be too hot or wrinkle too easily?

Sir Gregory products were created to solve these real-world questions with practical solutions developed from years of fitting customers.

Solving Real Formalwear Problems

How should tuxedo pants fit? How long will it take?

One of the most common concerns customers have is whether their trousers will fit comfortably on the day of their event.

Sir Gregory adjustable waist tuxedo trousers in wool and polyester allow the waistband to be adjusted slightly in or out when needed while maintaining a clean formal silhouette.

This flexibility allows customers to select their hem length at checkout and potentially receive trousers ready to wear in 2 business days.

For many men preparing for weddings or formal events, that convenience makes a real difference.

What size jacket do I need?

Choosing the correct jacket size is easier than many people expect.
Our sizing guide helps customers quickly determine the proper fit.

Once you understand your jacket size, selecting a balanced formal outfit becomes much simpler.

Will the jacket match the pants?

Sir Gregory tuxedo sets are designed so fabrics and finishes coordinate properly.

• Wool jackets pair with wool trousers come as sets available here
• Polyester jackets pair with polyester trousers and come as sets available here

Customers can also choose between adjustable waist or expandable waist trouser constructions while maintaining the proper formal look.

What if I need a different pant size than the jacket?

In traditional tuxedo sets, pants and jackets are often bundled together in fixed sizes.

But real fittings showed that many customers need different proportions.

Sir Gregory allows customers to pair different jacket and trouser sizes when building a tuxedo set so each piece fits properly.

Where do cufflinks and studs go?

All Sir Gregory tuxedo shirts include the proper shirt details for formal accessories.

Cufflinks are inserted through the cuff from the outside and fastened underneath.

Shirt studs are inserted through the front placket and replace the shirt buttons for a classic formal look.

Should my shirt have pleats?

Traditional tuxedo shirts often feature a pleated front.

For classic black-tie attire many men prefer pleats, while others choose a plain front for a more modern look or versatile use.

Sir Gregory offers a plain front tuxedo shirt that can function as both a formal tuxedo shirt and an elegant dress shirt.  This allows you to have one shirt for all occasions.

Is the collar supposed to feel this tight?

Many men are surprised by how close a formal shirt collar sits against the neck.

A properly sized collar should feel snug but not uncomfortable.

Sir Gregory shirts address this with options such as expandable collars and precise neck sizing.

What about shirt fabric weight?

Formalwear must balance structure and comfort.

Sir Gregory shirts use substantial yet breathable fabrics designed to perform in indoor formal settings.

Customers seeking maximum breathability often choose our 100% cotton broadcloth wing collar tuxedo shirt, while those wanting easy maintenance may prefer our poly-cotton blend shirts.

Experience Across the Entire Apparel Lifecycle

Working inside a hands-on specialty retailer provided exposure to every stage of apparel:

• product sourcing and buying
• garment construction and balance
• tailoring and alteration
• customer styling and fit psychology
• inventory and logistics
• quality control and finishing

Few modern apparel brands are built by someone who has personally worked across every stage of the formalwear process.

Sir Gregory was created to translate that experience into thoughtfully engineered formalwear.

A Focused Formalwear Brand

Sir Gregory is intentionally specialized.

Rather than chasing every fashion category, the brand focuses on the essentials of formalwear:

• tuxedo shirts
• tuxedo trousers
• coordinated tuxedo sets
• construction-driven comfort
• practical elegance

The goal is simple:

To provide modern men with properly balanced formalwear designed by someone who has lived inside the tailoring room, not just the design studio.
